Center for Applied Science at University of Applied Sciences (ZAFH)

The ZAFH Autonomous Mobile Service Robot is a project for developing intelligent mobile service robots which is ran by the collaboration with the University of Applied Sciences of Ravensburg-Weingarten, Ulm and Mannheim and promoted by the state of Baden-Württemberg.

The University of Applied Sciences of Ravensburg-Weingarten participates with two out of five work groups.

The work group of Prof. Wolfgang Ertel carries out research and development in the field of machine learning, a branch of artificial intelligence. The aim is to develop a universally usable teaching box which enables future service robots to learn its features. Thereby, robots should be able to adaptively adjust to their environment and programming effort will be reduced.
The work group of Prof. Holger Voos works on the verification of autonomous robots’ security characteristics. By this, a standardized procedure should result which covers all aspect of security and its warranty.
